Before I noticed it, two weeks had gone by in the blink of an eye. The fight-or-flight state I had gone into after learning about who I was mated to made the days seem never-ending; the hours used to drag by, the minutes becoming more stressful as the clock ticked. Every second used to be painfully long as I dreaded having my secrets exposed. I thought I couldn’t afford to live without my guise, but the truth is, I wasn’t truly living until I gave it up for the one person who somehow managed to bring the best out of a worthless stray.
