I screamed in frustration as I thought about everything that led to this moment. There had to have been something that could have stopped us from getting to this point. Maybe if I had let Blade go off on his own, he would have never found Draven. Or maybe I should have insisted on him staying behind, despite his protests.

My mate was dying in my arms, and I felt completely hopeless. I was supposed to be this powerful entity that everyone wanted so they could do who knows what, but I couldn’t even stop my mate from dying. Together, we were supposed to be the Daughter of Moon and Magic and the Son of Blood and Magic. Everyone said we were destined to do terrible things, but he was dying.
