\tI sat in the chair in my dad’s office, waiting for him to return from some official business. Mason had left me in here to sulk and think about my actions, since he had patrol duty to attend to. I wasn’t sulking, though. I didn’t think it was a big deal to leave the pack grounds for a few minutes, and nothing bad happened. Well, I didn’t think anything bad had happened, but others might see it differently if they knew the truth.

\tI wasn’t sure if meeting a vampire was a bad thing or not yet. Blade didn’t seem dangerous. He didn’t try to attack me or hurt me, but he was watching me. His eyes were burned into my memory, and there was something about them that made me want to know more about him. I wanted to see him again, which was why I knew I wouldn’t say a word to my father about Blade until I knew if he was a threat or not.
