I stared at my closet, knowing already there was nothing in here that I’d wear to a dance. In the past, I always borrowed one of Moira’s dresses. She had more than enough, and after she wore a dress once, she didn’t want to wear it again, so she didn’t care if I wore one of her dresses. It saved me money, so I didn’t mind wearing a used dress either.

I gathered my stuff and looked up the best bus route to get to the mall. I tried to avoid spending money on unnecessary clothes, but if Asher was taking me to Homecoming, I planned on looking the part. I thought about asking Asher to join me, but I wanted to surprise him with the dress.
