It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 84

Malcolm remained perfectly still as he watched Enoch leave. Once he was sure he was alone, he walked to the wine cellar, took out a bottle of wine and poured himself a glass of the dark red liquid. He pressed his lips to the rim of the glass and took a small sip, turning to look at the monitor. Renée’s lifeless body was thrown into the cremator. After a few minutes, nothing but a shocking fall of white bones and ashes came out.

No matter how full of glory a person’s life was, it would turn into nothing more than a pile of ashes and bones in the end. Renee’s biggest downfall was that she thought she was special to Malcolm. But she was wrong. She was barely worth thinking about. The past was the past. Many people didn’t even bother to remember it. Malcolm certainly didn’t remember it clearly. If he had, perhaps he would not have been constantly plagued by what could only be called a nightmarish storm of memories. There wasn’t a little glimmer of anything good, only the overwhelming swell of darkness. Every time he woke up from the nightmare, he would tremble like a rabbit in the tall grass, terrified of the hawk above. It was his greatest failure, his greatest regret, something he could never forget.

This was the beginning of his fall from grace into the endless hell, in which he now lived. This had been the start of the war between Malcolm and this man. It was the night his heart was torn apart by the one he loved. He felt the most incredible pain, the most unforgettable betrayal. This is what turned him into a heartless monster.
